According to the BC CDC’s April 21st weekly reporting of COVID-19 Cases, Hospitalizations, and Deaths: hospitalizations have dropped from 289 to 238 and deaths from 37 to 27.
The total number of hospital admissions since the start of the pandemic are 20,585 with the highest number coming from Fraser Health Authority.
Despite this drop in new hospital admissions, the total number of hospitalizations of patients with COVID-19 has risen since last week from 364 to 485, meaning the patients who were admitted last week have not yet been discharged from the hospital leading to a compounding effect.
